OUR SHARED WISDOM
Curating Choice, Change & Collaboration

Our Shared Wisdom provides coaching, mentoring and critical friendship to people working within universities, NHS and not-for-profit organisations. Combining executive leadership and practitioner expertise of higher education, healthcare, and regulatory environments, we enable you to identify your choices and change capabilities. Our clients have secured senior job promotions, formed successful new businesses, and acquired awards and recognition at national level.

  • Are you accountable for leading collaborative change across teams, yet have no authority?
  • Maybe you feel your potential is being passed over?
  • Perhaps you’re ready to progress, but you’ve lost direction in a sea of other people’s urgent requests and an ever-creeping workload?

We enable you to think and feel capable of stepping up, so you can act to take control of your futures and confidently scale-up previous success as an individual or team. If you’ve recently stepped into a strategic role, we will help you to be heard and gain sufficient gravitas. Our aim is to make a positive difference to people’s careers, so they can regain occupational balance in their personal and professional lives.

If you need to hear yourself think, please don't hesitate to contact us we are always happy to talk with you about the possibilities for coaching, mentoring or critical friendship services - with no obligation.

Our Shared Wisdom

PURPOSE

Our Shared Wisdom has a clear purpose: to enable individuals working in higher education and public-facing services to curate and lead collaborative change in their professional or personal lives.

Inspired by encouraging academics, healthcare professionals and professional services staff to realise their leadership potential. We can support you to work successfully with internal and external partners, to enhance personal career progression or team project success.

We offer a highly credible coaching practice, leaving our clients restored and galvanised from their work with us. By taking a highly relational approach, we use best practice approaches to create safe conditions, ‘to hear yourself think,’ reframe your current story and to distinguish your own, or team's future.

Since first launching Our Shared Wisdom in 2019, we’ve been humbled by the range of public-facing leaders, NHS practitioners and aspiring creatives who have chosen to work with us. Find out more...

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What happens next after I’ve made contact with you?

After making contact, you will be invited to a free, focussed and brief orientation call. This call gives each of us the opportunity to find out if we can get along together. You can also check out Rebecca’s coaching style and experience for yourself. We will also talk in detail about your coaching options.

  • What’s the added bonus of working with Shared Wisdom?

Whilst the coaching industry is self-regulated, you can be assured of Rebecca’s credibility as a fully certified and accredited professional coach with the International Coaching Federation. Uniquely, her coaching approach is informed by post-graduate qualifications at doctoral level. She combines her experience of public-sector senior roles with the practicalities of being a parent and carer.

  • Do you only work with senior leaders in public-facing services or staff working in universities?

Whilst our coaching practice is informed by working across the NHS and Higher Education, we are also privileged to work with a range of clients facing all manner of challenges. For example, individuals from the entertainment industry, marketing services, regulatory bodies, the Church and charitable organisations.

  • How can I make the most from my coaching investment?

You will be invited to prepare for coaching by being ready to discuss what it is you are intending to change. These initial intentions are frequently based on broad themes. To encourage a sense of direction, at each session, your intentions are clarified. Planning ahead is vital to support a learning bridge, between where you are now in your thinking and where you wish to be. Many clients find keeping a journal is useful. If we are using social media to meet, ensuring access to a quiet private space, free from any distraction is important. You will be expected to be active between sessions and prepared to give an update on what’s happened, including any learnings since the last session. You are responsible for the results you create; we are here to help you curate long-lasting change.

  • What is your approach to confidentiality and ethics?

We work to the highest professional standards of the International Coaching Federation Code of Ethics. Everything we discuss is 100% confidential. Breaching confidentiality would only occur in exceptional circumstances, such as concerns over causing harm to yourself, others, or criminal acts. When working within organisations, it is entirely up to our client as to when and how feedback is provided to their manager or organisational sponsor.

  • Is coaching the same as mentoring?

No, coaching is not the same as mentoring, or working as a critical friend in an organisation. Any mentoring is based on Rebecca’s expertise as an executive leader. We will advise you on opportunities or approaches that may be open to you. As a Coach, Rebecca creates an awareness within you, so that you can find the answers.
